Ileana D’Cruz, who carved her niche in South with superhit Pokkiri, is making her Bollywood debut with Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfee’. Ranbir Kapoor is playing the male lead and since his character is named Murphy who pronounces it as barfee because he is mute, the film has been titled so. Interestingly, Ileana will get to portray her talents well in the flick because she will be seen aging from a 19-year-old to a 65-year-old.
Basu divulges in further details saying, “All the three lead actors are playing out-of-the-box, and extremely interesting characters in Barfee.”
“Ranbir Kapoor, as everyone knows, is playing a deaf and mute boy, Priyanka Chopra is not mentally-challenged as reported, but is mildly autistic (a form of mental illness that causes a person to withdraw into a private world of fantasy and be unable to communicate with others or respond to his/her real environment) in the film. Ileana D’Cruz, on the other hand, is playing a character who will be seen aging from a 19-year-old to 30 to a 65 year-old,” he added.
The shooting for the flick has already started on June 14 at Darjeeling which happens to be Ranbir’s hometown.
Our space had informed you a few days back that dusky beauty Sameera Reddy is having a stint with bikes for her forthcoming action thriller ‘Tezz’. It so happened that when the actress was filming a stunt in the Perthshire forests, her bike skidded on a sharp turn and fell over. The bike was running at 60 kmph and Sam was dragged for at least 10 to 15 seconds before the bike could finally stop. Her right hand and shoulder suffered injuries.
Recalls Sameera, “There was a big truck with the crew catching the action from the front and the cinematographer on a bike with an ADV (digital incamera) riding alongside. A couple of cars were also following at top speed. I could have rammed into the truck, swerved and hit the cameraman or the guys from behind could have run me over. But God was watching out for me.”
“The action director who has choreographed stunts for Pierce Brosnan’s Bond adventures says my fast reflexes saved me. I’d trained for this for three months last year and not fallen once. This chase sequence was one of the last to be canned and no one had expected anything amiss. The near-fatal accident proves that when it’s action, you’re never too prepared for the worst,” she added.

Finally, it is official. Pakistani actress, Veena Malik, who made quite a stir with her alleged relationship with housemate Ashmit Patel in Big Boss is all set to debut in Bollywood with Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai to be directed by Aanand Balraj, the younger brother of Deepak Balraj (director of the movie Hafta Bandh). This will be Aanand’s directorial debut. Aanand started his career in Bollywood as an actor and was seen in various short roles in the Subhash Ghai films like Ram Lakhan, Khalnaayak, Saudgar and Pardes.

Amitabh Bachchan may be the most successful and top notch senior actor in Bollywood, but he sure is humble and grounded even now. So, when Anupam Kher personally asked him for a special appearance in his long struck project the film Mr. Bhatti on Chutti under the direction of Karan Razdan, senior Bachchan did not hesitate for a second to say yes to it.

John Abraham was very sporting about it and so he landed up in Film City this Saturday despite heavy showers. The re shoot has been done in such a way that viewers will not even notice that it has not been shot at a stretch but after a big gap.
Simi explains, “Yes, it was kind enough of John to shoot again with us. He was the first guest on the show. It was like a pilot episode. After watching it we felt the lights needed to be redone as well as some portions of the sets. To maintain the continuity we had to reshoot. He’s such a sweetheart and willingly agreed to do the portions again.”
She adds, “As John’s episode will be telecast at a later date, we had to resort to the reshooting, otherwise it would stand out among the rest of the episodes for the continuity reasons.”

The actress is the brand ambassador of the Swiss watch company Longines and she is currently in France for its events along with her mother Vrinda.
Aishwarya opted for a pale pink ensemble with an elaborate hat. Since the start of the Prix de Diane in 1843, the hat has evolved as an essential dress code for the race which is now famous for its guests turning up with eccentric headgear.

Her first flick will be a romantic comedy under the direction of Prem Soni. When asked why she chose Soni as her director when his last flick ‘Main Aur Mrs Khanna’ bombed at the box office, Preity clarifies, “I’d rather work with someone who’s fallen down hard than someone who’s at the top because he’s driven to go out there and prove a point to the world. Even Imtiaz Ali’s first film, Socha Na Tha, wasn’t a blockbuster but today everyone wants to work with him.”
The actress has set a mediocre budget for the movie and is yet to finalize the cast of the film which will mostly be shot abroad. Preity is thoroughly happy and confident about her move and says, “It’s an instinct for choosing the right movie that’d got me where I am today,” she points out. Of course, after that I took a course at the Harvard Business School, asked a million questions and gave two years to the game. Film is my core competence and it should be easier focusing on it.”
